PHS Graphic Imaging Program Donates Decal to West Building

20170918-Graphic-Imaging-Technology-Fischer-2Having a child enrolled in a new school isn’t easy, especially when its buildings are as spacious as those of Portage High School. Parents of new students seemed very confused as to which building housed the freshman classes, and which door to enter. This seemed to be an ongoing problem this year.

The PHS administration turned to the Graphic Imaging Technology Program. The program, housed at PHS West, has produced almost all of the signage and banners at Portage High School. After the initial meeting, Mark Fischer, the instructor of the program, put his students to the task. Over the course of a week, the students worked very hard to design, print and install the decal in a timely manner.

Projects like this are part of the students’ everyday activities and teaches them to pay attention to detail and give them a taste of what it is like to work for an employer. Over the course of this year, the students will be screenprinting shirts, embroidering various items, sublimating award plaques and learning more useful skills.

Most of all, the projects teach the students to create a lasting impression and to take pride in a job well done!
