PHS Athletics: Volleyball, Tennis, and Freshman Football

At Merrillville last night the Lady Indians Varsity Volleyball team fought hard but came up short losing in 5 matches 23-25, 27-25, 23-25, 25-14, 13-15. (overall record 6-9) (DAC 2-5) After coming out a little dead, the JV team battled back to win game one. It was back and fourth in game two with Merrillville winning and the third game also went to Merrillville scores 25-18, 24-25, 12-15 (Overall record 5-9) (DAC 1-6) The freshman team won 25-22, 25-18. Claire Pardo was 7-7 serving in the Indians DAC win. (Overall record 5-9) (DAC 3-4)

The Boys’ Varsity Tennis Team lost 3-2 at Merrillville. Sophmore Patrick Derr won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Senior Parth Patel and Junior Shub Multani won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. J.V won 4-1. Varsity now has record of 8-5.

The freshman football team won last night at home against Merrillville 23-6. Cameron Vaughan intercepted the ball and returned for a 50-yard touchdown. Hashim Simpson rushed for 90 yards. T.J. Skelton caught a 40-yard pass from Gage Pearman for a touchdown and Nate Johnson kicked a 35 yard field goal. (Overall record 3-1) (DAC 2-0)
