The Lady Indians varsity basketball team played tremendous defense Wednesday night but fell short against the Merrillville Pirates 50-58. The coaches and players would like to once again thank the student fans for a home court advantage. Nicki Monahan scored 23 points and Kaitlin Doud added 7 rebounds for the Indians. The JV team fought hard for a victory over the Pirates 26-22. Alexis Johnson had the team high with 10 points and Asia Jones scored 7.
The boys’ varsity basketball team lost to Highland 44-66. David Jercha scored 19 points for Portage and Luke Kizer scored 11. The JV team beat Highland 33-27. David Clegg scored 10 points and Jordan Collazo scored 9.
