PHS Athletic Announcements for April 5, 2013

INDIAN HEADVarsity softball lost to Crown Point 2-1. Kiley Jones pitched 8 innings, striking out 9 and giving up 1 earned run. Jalise McKnight was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Jena Alaniz hit a triple and scored.

JV won 5-2. Madi Jercha had 10 strike outs in a complete game. Annabelle Karagias went 3 for 3 with a double and a triple. Jennine Bryan went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Summer vardaman went 2 for with 2 stolen bases and 2 RBI’s.

The varsity baseball team improved to 5-2 on the year, beating Griffith 13-3. Kevin Jones threw 4 innings, striking out 7, to pick up the win. The offense was led by Chris Klenk & Peter Psomadelis with 2 hits apiece. Eric Mesearch, Tyler Soberg & Patrick Derr each had a pair of RBI’s in the win. The Indians play Hammond Clark tonight at home.

JV baseball beat the Griffith Panthers 21-2. Every player on the JV squad scored in the game. JD Dickson was the winning pitcher with Noah Simmons and Braden Majewski pitching well in relief.

Top Meet performers:

Tara Kostelnik won both the shot put and the discus throwing a personal best 39 feet in the shot and 112 feet in the Discus. Paige Pizer won both the 800 and 1600 meter runs, while Kyra Ball finished 1st in the 3200 meter run. Pizer and Ball along with Keanna Crum and Erin Reynolds finished 1st in the 4x800 meter relay. Shakiea Boyd won the 100meter Hurdles while Jade McKnight finished 1st in the 100, 200, and the Long Jump. Boyd and Mcknight along with Isabel Melendez and Torie Ostrander finished 1st in the 4x100 meter relay. Delaney Barcelli finished first in the pole vault and 2nd in both the 100 Hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Other top meet Performers include: Ashley Sosbe, Hannah Medina, Markitta Jackson in the shot put and Discus. Cherrelle Milledge, Aierel Rozwara, in the High Jump. Haley Orshonsky, Stephanie Waters, Rhyan Sloan and Mariah Blackwell in the distance events. Jessenia Tribble in the Long Jump and Allie Weiser in the 400 meter Dash.
