Hello Portage Life Readers. I was just giving you an update on Philanthropy Boot Camp. This week was a busy week for us. We met the mayor of Portage Mayor Olga Velazquez. It was an amazing experience. We also met the city planner Joe Csikos. We did a fun project with the mayor and city planner, we got into groups and made our own city. We made our own city the way we want it to look like and what we wanted in our own city. It was really fun and exciting to present it to our judges; the mayor and planner. We also had another exciting game to play. Some of us sat in the councils seats and the others sat in the benches as city residents. We were going over the boat laws and if we would want to keep it the same or change it, it has been a really big problem in our town of portage. It was very interesting on the ways of the council and how they work through things and it can be very frustrating and can also get overwhelmed. It was very interesting to see how the mayor works on making Portage a better city. What she does is very interesting and I give her a lot of credit then most people who don't. I would like to thank her and city hall for having Philanthropy Boot Camp go and see what she does. It was a wonderful experience.
