Lake Area United Way recently presented management and staff of Pepsi Beverages Co., Munster with the prestigious “Community Spirit” award for the company’s outstanding support of the 2012 United Way community campaign. This award recognizes organizations that use benchmark model practices in their workplace giving efforts resulting in increased contributions over the previous year.
Jeremy Miller, Lake Area United Way Chief Operating Officer, was on hand to present the award to Pepsi’s Business Development Manager, Winston Wright and staff at the Munster facility. Miller commented, “Pepsi is an outstanding partner to Lake Area United Way. Their ongoing support makes lasting impact in our communities.” He added, “The contribution from Pepsi increased over 40% compared to last year’s campaign.” He added, “It is obvious that management and employees understand the importance of giving back to the communities in which they live, work and raise their families.”
In accepting the award Wright said, “Here at Pepsi, we believe in helping to make meaningful change in the lives of others. Our goals include regularly volunteering our time, skills, resources and creative insights to help those in need.” He added, “We are proud of our partnership with Lake Area United Way and support their efforts in advancing the common good.”
