Attendees to enjoy private viewing of the “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit
Opportunity Enterprises will be hosting an event at the Indiana Welcome Center to benefit the mission of the organization. Attendees will enjoy a special sneak peek of the new window scene to be unveiled at the start of the “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit.
“Opportunity Enterprises' work has a profound effect on individuals’ lives,” said Speros A. Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority. “We are honored to have them host their event here, kicking off the annual ‘A Christmas Story’ Comes Home exhibit.”
The benefit event will treat guests to hors d’oeuvres and drinks while they stroll the streets of downtown Hohman, a fictional Indiana town which was a disguise for Hammond in the holiday classic “A Christmas Story.” The exhibit, which is presented in agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, features six animatronic window scenes, Christmas trees decorated by local businesses and organizations, as well as numerous family-fun events throughout the holiday season.
“We’re very excited the South Shore CVA is allowing our fundraiser to be hosted in conjunction with the unveiling of their seventh window,” stated David Stupay, president and CEO of Opportunity Enterprises. “The exhibit and the movie are held so close to the hearts of visitors and residents alike because of its significance to the region.”
The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. Tickets cost $30 each, and will be available for purchase at the door. Checks or cash will be accepted.
