Opportunity Enterprises Kicks Off the Holiday Season with the Simply Amazing Market Open House

On the first day of December, the parking lot of Opportunity Enterprises was packed. It was the annual holiday open house at the Simply Amazing Market. It was a pretty sweet event (pun intended) as there were scads of tasty treats for sale such as their many flavors of fudge and popcorn, many chocolate-covered delectables, gummy candies, hot drinks, and gift sets –this is in case you can’t decide what to buy so you get everything! There is a special gift set available called the Angel Sampler. A portion of its sales gets donated to the OE Angel Tree program to provide Christmas gifts for OE clients with little or no family.

The staff at the market was hard at work ringing up customers, making fudge, helping customers with their purchases, and handing out samples.

The man in red even stopped by! Yes, folks, Santa Claus came and spent the day at the Simply Amazing Market taking pictures with kids and adults alike. And that was just in one room!

“They’re having a real nice party today,” Mr. Claus said. “My reindeer are up on the roof chilling out right now because they only fly at night, you know. This seemed like a really nice get together. I saw the ads in the paper, so I thought I come and partake in the festivities. I always have fun here at Opportunity Enterprises.”

There was also another room that was filled with different vendors –thirteen to be specific- which added to the open house. It was an excellent way to market more and get more people with varying interests to come to OE. A portion of the proceeds made by the vendors will go back to OE.

Ellen DeMartinis, Interim President and CEO for OE, was at the open house making sure that everything was ship-shape.

This open house is the big kick-off for December. We have Santa here and the whole market is set up for sales. We are really trying to focus on corporate sales this year and bringing in the community and making them more aware of all of the products that we have,” DeMartinis said. “This is important for OE because we don’t have enough funding to support the programs that we have so we must look for alternative ways to fund programming. This helps us to serve more individuals and that is a benefit to the whole community.”
