Opportunity Enterprises 2014 Gala Expected to Raise $175,000

Opportunity Enterprises held its 2014 Gala on Saturday, March 8 with theme of the night being Chicago’s Rhythm City. The gala included live entertainment, dancing, live & silent auctions, dinner and drinks, being held at the stunning Avalon Manor.

Not only was the event a fundraiser for Opportunity Enterprises, which serves citizens with disabilities all over Northwest Indiana, but was also held to honor former Opportunity Enterprises CEO Gary Mitchell with OE’s very first Lifetime Achievement Award.

“We have over 500 people here to support OE and we're estimated to raise over $175,000!” said Liz, a worker for Opportunity Enterprises.

Whether you were in the mood to bust a couple of moves on the dance floor or shop around at the auctions, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The evening also included a scrumptious gourmet dinner, as well as an open bar.

Live and silent auction items included Blackhawks tickets, a trip to Tuscany, and commission artwork by some of our participant artists, including much more! There was also a raffle in which one lucky winner would win a 2-year all expenses paid lease on a 2014 VW Beetle donated by team Volkswagen.

Not only were people wining and dining, but teenagers and adults above the age of 16 were volunteering and stepping in wherever assistance was needed. It was evident that the people in attendance of the event were passionate about Opportunity Enterprises and giving back to the community.

“It’s always great to see people giving back. The items that are being auctioned are amazing, there is something for everyone!” Raj, an Opportunity Enterprises volunteer said.
