Opening day for the Portage’s Community Market will be held on Sunday, June 6th. The event is free and takes place from 11am - 3pm. Founders’ Park can be found if you take 
Central Avenue east of Willowcreek Road and look for the signs at the newly remodeled Founder’s Square Park. You’ll find fresh produce, homemade breads, flowers, Yard Art, Honey, Artists and Craftsmen, Jewelry, and much more! Live music by Grammy Contender, Keenan Baxter will be from 12:30 – 2:30. The market is only in it’s second year, and achieved great success in 2009. This event is presented by Portage Parks & Recreation, 219-762-1675. Keyboardist, Keenan Baxter, of Valparaiso, is a Grammy Contender (2006) and also a composer/producer. 
This “Top 40 Worldwide” young talent offers original compositions in New Age, Blues, Reggae, Celtic and Smooth Jazz styles, and has been featured in the Shore Magazine. He has over a dozen CDs to his credit and has performed in several Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana venues.
