Not Just Another Summer Night

NatalieinMotionComing up on August 22 at the Uptown Center for the Performing Arts, NatalieinMotion presents: Not Just Another Summer Night.

NatalieinMotion is the creation of Natalie Deryn Johnson, a Portage High School 2008 graduate and a 2012 University of California Irvine graduate. She graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Choreography and Dance Performance from the Campus Wide Honors Program. She was also a Regents scholar. After graduation, she went to New York City to intern with the world famous photographer Lois Greenfield where she has ended up working both behind and in front of Lois's camera. NYC is where she started her dance company.

Natalie and her sister performed at the Uptown Center for the Performing Arts previously, and Natalie is quite excited to be coming back to the venue. She has a new, full length show that will take place in this fabulous venue. Natalie and her company of artistic performers will be taking advantage of the area's natural beauty and some business locations to inspire them. They will also be working with local musicians to use their original compositions in the show.

The show starts at 7:30pm (doors open at 6:30pm). Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students. At the door tickets will be $20 for general admission and $15 for students. Call 219-921-9454 to get your tickets or mail your money indicating the number of general admission and student tickets to 6215 Central Avenue, Portage, IN 46368. Tickets can be picked up at will call. You may also purchase tickets in person.

As NatalieInMotion has not yet received charitable status which opens you up to grant opportunities to fund the creation of artistic work, she has turned to crowd funding on Kickstarter to fund the expenses of this week-long collaboration of artists to create new work that her company will perform here and for years to come. She has planned this experience on a shoe string budget with no extra frills as she indicates in the kickstart video. Ticket sales alone do not actually pay for artistic performances the audience experiences. It takes the contributions of those that appreciate the presentation of the arts together with ticket sales to make these events happen.
