Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center offers quality care for Region women

Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center strives to promote breast cancer awareness and make women feel safe and comfortable during their appointments.

Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center provides screening mammograms and diagnostic services as well as Bone Density & Whole Body Composition scans to patients across the Region in a warm, “spa-like” setting. They offer 3D mammography and a full suite of diagnostic imaging, including ultrasound and MRI.

Throughout 2022, Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center helped many patients in the Region across its three locations in Gary, Schererville, and Merrillville.

For patients who are uninsured or underinsured, there are financial aid programs in place. These programs ensure all men and women who meet the financial assistance guidelines can utilize the 3D screening and diagnostic mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy services at no charge.

Since 2013, Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center has been a recipient of the NFL Chicago Bears charitable arm called Bears Care, and 2022 was no different. This grant is used to supply screening, diagnostic mammograms as well as US, US & Mammography guided biopsies as well as MRI's of the breast to those who are uninsured or underinsured.

Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center works to empower women throughout Northwest Indiana, and because of this the center is the sole recipient of the Bears Care Grant in Northwest Indiana. These two organizations have been partnered for nine years.

Along with ensuring everyone has access to the services needed to remain healthy, Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center works to provide awareness about breast cancer. On September 25, 2022, Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center supported the Pink Ribbon Society’s 27th annual Breast Cancer Survivor Luncheon.

The Pink Ribbon Society is a foundation that puts money toward funding mammograms, ultrasounds, and wigs. Northwest Breast Care Center has been supporting this event with The Pink Ribbon Society for over 15 years.

The luncheon paid tribute to the survivors of breast cancer in Northwest Indiana. Survivors shared personal stories to both spread awareness and encourage the current patients in attendance.

Supporting the Pink Ribbon Society is one of the things Northwest Breast Care Center does to promote awareness for breast cancer, and this event is one of - if not the largest - event of the year. Community members come together to participate and raise awareness for this important cause and to give recognition to the 12 new calendar girls and honor the recipient of the Dorothy Marie Gillespie Humanitarian Award.

In addition to supporting patients and providing community support to the Pink Ribbon Society, Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center strives to create a good work atmosphere for its employees.

Employees such as now-retired Vera Kunovski and Dena Lopez have stressed the positive work atmosphere Northwest Breast Care Center has created.

The employees work together to ensure every patient feels comfortable and receives the highest quality care possible throughout their visit. Every employee takes their job very seriously and works to catch the signs of breast cancer as early as possible to help change and save a person’s life.

2022 was jam-packed for Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center and 2023 won’t be any different.
