Meetings will be held as part of the public comment period for I-65 Expansion, Cline Avenue Bridge, and SR 49 Amendments
Amendments have been proposed to add the expansion of I-65 from US 231 to SR 2 and the new Cline Avenue Bridge to NIRPC’s 2040 Comprehensive Regional Plan (CRP), the 2014-2017 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and a new Air Quality Conformity Analysis. A proposed amendment to change the State Road 49 project in the 2040 CRP back to its original scope will also be part of this public comment period. These items will be subject to a 30-day public comment period which will start February 3, 2014 and will end March 5, 2014. As part of this public comment period, two public meetings will be held at the following times and locations:
- · February 18, Merrillville Town Hall, 7820 Broadway, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
- February 19, East Chicago Public Library Main Branch, 2401 E. Columbus Drive, 2:00 to 4:00 pm
The comments received at these meetings will be responded to and included in a public comment report with other comments and responses from the 30-day comment period. Following the end of the comment period, the report will be distributed to NIRPC’s Transportation Policy Committee (TPC) and Full Commission. Action is anticipated on these items at the TPC’s meeting on April 8, 2014 and the Full Commission’s meeting on April 17, 2014.
