The Complete Streets Workshop scheduled for this Friday in Portage has been postponed until Thursday, August 22nd to avoid conflicting with various holiday- and summer festivities. Please find attached a new agenda with updated information.

If you plan to attend on August 22nd, you do not need to take any action at this time—we will keep your registration information and look forward to seeing you then. If you are unable to attend on August 22nd, please let me know and I will remove you from our list.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we look forward to seeing most, if not all of you, in August!

NIRPC encourages your participation to THIS Friday’s (28th) Complete Streets Workshop. Last Thursday, the NIRPC Executive Board APPROVED the Complete Streets Design Manual as our official guidance. That said we strongly encourage you to take part next week to get acquainted to the standards we will be promoting on all NIRPC-attributable projects. The complete manual can be viewed online at: http://atpolicy.org/Design

As it states below, YOU GET ONE FULL POINT towards a future TAP or STP-1 application for your attendance. We are capping the number of attendees at 50…and yes, there WILL be a free lunch provided thanks to Alta Planning + Design from Chicago.

See you there!

Friday, June 28th, 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Woodland Park Community Center, 2100 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana 46368

The Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission will be hosting a free Complete Streets Workshop in Portage on June 28th, organized by the Alliance for Health Promotion and the Indiana Complete Streets Coalition. The workshop will provide participants with a better understanding of complete streets and their benefits, complete streets policies, and techniques for designing and implementing complete streets in a variety of contexts. Following lunch, participants will have an opportunity to learn about best practices for design, mode prioritization and more included within “Complete Streets, Complete Networks,” NIRPC’s new design guide produced by the Active Transportation Alliance. Please see the attached announcement and agenda for more information.

You may register for free at www.healthbydesignonline.org. Please note that registration is due by 5pm on WEDNESDAY, June 26th.

Lunch is being sponsored and served FREE of charge by Alta Planning + Design.

We expect to provide continuing education credits for professional planners and engineers.

This meeting will take place in lieu of NIRPC’s regularly scheduled Ped, Pedal & Paddle Committee meeting. Because of the importance of this meeting, a full point will be awarded to a future TAP/STP grant for LPA attendance.
