Newsweek ranks Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center No. 2 in Indiana for rehabilitation

Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center is among the best physical rehabilitation centers in the country, receiving the distinction of No.2 in Indiana. The rating comes from Newsweek and Statista Inc., an industry ranking provider.

“This achievement underscores Community Healthcare System’s dedication to excellence from our team of skilled medical professionals and demonstrates the results of our investment in bringing advanced physical rehabilitation treatments to Northwest Indiana at Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center,” said Donald P. Fesko, CEO, Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, Inc., parent company of Community Healthcare System.

Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center, 10215 Broadway, Crown Point, is a four-story, 129,000-square-foot multispecialty hospital within Community Healthcare System. The facility includes a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.

Newsweek and Statista based its rankings on three data sources – a nationwide online survey of more than 4,400 experts, accreditation data on physical rehabilitation centers and key performance indicator (KPI) data for inpatient rehabilitation facilities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Survey participants were asked to assess the quality of care, service, follow-up care and accommodation and amenities.

Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center offers inpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy rehabilitation, learning skill spaces and therapy gyms. State-of-the-art rehabilitation technology and equipment at the facility includes the Biodex Balance System™ and the ZeroG® Gait and Balance System to maximize patients’ recovery.

“Our staff has done a great job utilizing this kind of technology to help patients recover,” said Craig Bolda, Administrator of Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center and Vice President of Acute Rehabilitation Services for Community Healthcare System. “Studies show that patients recovering from a stroke, neurological conditions or joint replacement experience better outcomes and a shorter length of stay with intensive inpatient rehabilitation treatment.”

Along with its inpatient rehabilitation unit, the center offers an array of services, such as outpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, diagnostic imaging, a women’s diagnostic center, diagnostic cardiology and physician offices.
