Portage will finally achieve the goal of a higher education building on Central Avenue sometime next year. The 2 story building will featured 31,548 square feet of space with a masonry facade. A 2 story reception area, accommodating 70+ people will welcome visitors to the 12 classroom building. Out of the 12 classrooms, large enough to fit 24-36 students, 2 will be "smart classrooms," 6 classrooms will feature "smart classroom" infrastructure, 2 rooms will be seminar and conference rooms, one will be a dry instructional lab and one a computer lab.
5,600 square feet of the first floor will be office space for WorkOne, with Indiana University Northwest, Purdue University North Central, Valparaiso University, and Ivy Tech also joining as tenants. A high efficiency HVAC and electrical and plumbing systems will be installed, along with a high efficiency insulation package and extensive sound insulation.
