Myers Elementary Art Attack Club Learns about Embroidery during 2016 Field Trip

Myers-Elementary-Art-Attack-2016-01On March 17, 2016, the Myers elementary school Art Attack club took a field trip to the Portage Custom Wear store, to meet the owner and artist Brandon Starr. After a tour of the store, students learned the processes of embroidery, iron-on designs, and silk screening. Mr. Starr, a Portage graduate explained how he learned his trade at Portage High School, and continued on to own his own business that serves the community he grew up in.

The students were able to print their logo onto their own shirt that they will be wearing to a future field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago in May.

Art Educator, Bridget Nadolski said,"This is a great experience for the students to actually see how art impacts our community. They were amazed to see how their uniforms and t-shirts are created and how much effort and time it takes to get a finished product."

Myers Art Attack club is comprised of 4th and 5th grade students who have a passion for art.
