Monroe Updates Exchange Club on City Projects

portage-exchange-march-2014Portage's Director of Public Works, AJ Monroe, addressed the Portage Exchange Club at the March 19 breakfast meeting.

Monroe discussed the need for road repairs due to the harsh winter. He also outlined some upcoming improvements to the city, including the plans for the $3.5 million bond for park improvements. Work is in the planning stages for making Woodland Park meeting rooms more accessible, finishing the first floor of Countryside Park's barn and making updates and repairs to the five-year-old Lakefront and Riverwalk Park. Plans are also in the works for the aging Portage Police Station, a new downtown fire station and further work on Founder's Square Park.

The Portage Exchange Club meets every Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. at Miller's Assisted Living Meeting Room. The public is invited to come, visit with the club members and learn more about what the Exchange Club does for the community.
