Who knew Microsoft Word had the capability to create so many professional/artistic documents? On Friday, November 12 the Portage Township YMCA offered a FREE lunchtime class to all Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce Members. The class, taught by William Kaughman, was attended by 9 Chamber members located in the Y’s computer lab. The group enjoyed creating certificates, invitations, resumes, brochures, newsletters and catalogs. Most businesses agree that getting out from behind the desk for an hour or two to gather knowledge to help others at the office is a positive practice.
The Chamber will be offering more of these “Portage Perks” classes. “Every business in this community has an expertise within their field. Portage Perks is just a way of sharing, in an informal setting, a little piece of knowledge with others who may be interested,” said Cathy Reed, chairperson of the Chamber’s Ambassador Committee.
