Methodist Hospitals celebrates employees and 100th anniversary with employee picnic

Methodist Hospitals and its passionate staff have officially been serving the Region for 100 years. To celebrate this achievement, Methodist Hospital’s Food Services department threw an employee picnic at both its Southlake and Northlake campuses this week. Employees from every single department came out to enjoy great food and great company.

It wouldn’t be a 100-year anniversary without a birthday party. Methodist Hospitals has been holding employee picnics for the last four years, each with a unique theme, but this year’s picnic definitely took the cake. Everything was birthday-themed; there were confetti-filled balloons, confetti birthday cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes, and, of course, birthday goodie bags.

To make the picnic an even bigger birthday extravaganza, the hospital even hired some people to make balloon animals for the staff. Everyone had a blast posing with their balloon monkeys, butterflies, and flowers. The day was the perfect chance for the hospital to show its employees some much-deserved appreciation for all the work they’ve done since the hospital’s founding.

“It’s important to reward the staff who work hard all year long taking care of patients and taking care of each other. I love getting to do this for everyone,” said Amy Grzyb, food services director.

Methodist Hospitals’ 100th anniversary wasn’t the only thing being celebrated this week; it’s also Food Services Week at Methodist Hospitals. The week is meant to recognize all the hard work the Food Services team does to provide quality, fresh food every single day to patients and staff.

The picnic was a great opportunity to show off the talents of the Food Services department. The team made everything from jerk chicken to buffalo cauliflower to chicken kebabs. Everyone couldn’t get enough of the delicious food – some employees even came in on their day off to grab a meal.

“Everything our cooks do is in-house, fresh, and completely from scratch. They’re really good at what they do. It’s nice for them to have an event like this where they can show off their skills and make something good for everyone to enjoy,” said Grzyb.

Methodist Hospitals couldn’t have found a better way to blow out the candles on its 100th anniversary and show its enthusiastic staff some thanks. The bright smiles and friendly greetings left everyone feeling that Methodist Hospitals’ staff are more than just co-workers – they’re a big, supportive family.

“I hope all of our hospital employees take away that they are appreciated. I want them to walk away seeing the hard work that we put into this and understanding all the different ways that we support each other across the organization,” said Grzyb.

The Food Services department is grateful to everyone who helped them make such a wonderful day possible and can’t wait to keep holding picnics in the future.

“I’m thankful to my team for always doing such a great job and to all the executives for being supportive of what we do and giving us the opportunity to do this each year,” said Grzyb.
