Judy Lindsey, executive director of Methodist Hospitals Foundation, was pleased with the turnout and commented on the importance of funds raised.

“Our plan is to dedicate the money raised today to the Methodist Hospitals Vision Fund that was established this centennial year.  It will help assure that the hospital continues to serve all who need care, regardless of circumstances, and also focus on factors that affect the well-being of our patients such as food insecurity and chronic conditions that have a significant impact on the communities we serve.

“The goal we’ve set for today is $130,000 to add to $600,000 that was raised earlier this year” Lindsey said.

Gary Miller and Niall McShane, board members of the Methodist Hospitals Foundation, served as co-chairs for the golf outing. They commented on their excitement about the event.  We’ve always been excited about the annual event’s impact in helping the hospital build more projects for the future while bringing people together in a unique way.

“This event touches a broader group of people than our other events,” Miller said. “There are a number of vendors, staff members, and volunteers that show up annually for the opportunity to socialize with each other and have fun while supporting a worthy cause.”

While the event recognizes all of the hospital facilities throughout the Region, much of the support comes from the Lake County locations.

“The golf outing is always great,” McShane said. “It’s been really popular for the Methodist Hospitals’ sites in Gary and Merrillville as we work to support those in need.”

Matt Doyle, president and CEO of Methodist Hospitals, is very appreciative of the annual event. While he knows about the challenges on the golf course, the event never fails to put a smile on the faces of each attendee.

“It’s always an exciting day,” said Doyle. “This year is especially thrilling because of our 100 years of service to Northwest Indiana. Anytime you can celebrate 100 years of service by an organization, it’s a fantastic feeling. Several people have volunteered and participated to help out the hospital. Days like this wouldn’t be possible without them and the donations from our supporters.”

Heather McCarthy, board president of Methodist Hospitals Foundation, details how much the 100 years of service means to Methodist Hospitals and how the annual golf outing has played a large part in doing so.

“It speaks volumes that Methodist Hospitals has been serving patients in the community for 100 years and we plan to do so for 100 more,” McCarthy said. “Every year, this event brings in a bigger crowd. We’re proud of the momentum that we have gained and what the funds raised will make possible.”

The day concluded with a celebration dinner for golfers and guests during which the winning foursomes were announced and lead sponsors were recognized.  For more information on Methodist Hospitals, you can visit their website at www.methodisthospitals.org.
