April marks the nation’s “Month of the Military Child,” a time to honor youth and their service to our country. In celebration, Mental Health America of Porter County as part of their Building Up Our Youth program is proud to support Indiana Operation: Military Kids (OMK), part of the 4-H Youth Development program of Purdue Extension.
On Monday, April 15th as a visible way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices you are invited you to join us and “Purple Up! For Military Kids.” Everyone across the state of Indiana is encouraged to wear their Purple Shirts! Scarves! Shoes! Buttons! Pants! You can even Dress up your Dog! Cat! Horse! Hamster! If it’s Purple, or can be turned Purple, make it happen!
Share photos of you and your friends/co-workers/pets who have Purpled Up! on the Indiana OMK Facebook page (facebook.com/IndianaOMK) or send them to http://bit.ly/momc2013pic. Be proud and show off your pictures so others can see how you honored Indiana’s Military Kids!
Operation: Military Kids is the U.S. Army's collaborative effort with America's communities to support children and youth impacted by deployment. Regardless of whether families are experiencing deployment for the first time, the second time or another in a series of multiple deployments, OMK’s goal is to connect military children and youth with local resources in order to achieve a sense of community support and enhance their well-being.
Mental Health America of Porter County is your community resource for advocacy, education and support and resource services. For more information about our services please contact Christine Pirlot, Program Director at 462-6267 or email@example.com.
