On the morning of Thursday, May 15, McColly Real Estate with the partnership of D.R. Horton and the Greater Portage Chamber hosted a ribbon cutting for the new Bauer Farm development in Portage.
The attendees enjoyed pastries and other sweet treats along with hot and chilled beverages provided by a Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee truck.
Carter Casko, McColly Real Estate broker and Bauer Farm liaison, has been closely involved with the development. His responsibilities include marketing the development to real estate professionals from all brokerages. He views the ribbon cutting as a successful way to inform the community about the exciting things taking place at Bauer Farm.
“This event has been great,” Casko said. “McColly’s resources enable us to advertise effectively and bring brokers from throughout the area to Bauer Farm. We want them to see the product for themselves so we can spread the word about everything that this development has to offer. This is going to be a great community. I love this location because it is centralized and offers easy access to amenities in both Hobart and Portage. It’s south of Route Six, so it also offers the peace and quiet of the country. It’s the best of both worlds.”
Upon its completion, Bauer Farm will boast over 200 open concept homes. Many of the houses will feature flex rooms that homeowners can customize to suit their needs. The homes will also feature modern built-in smart home technology features. Bauer Farm is situated within convenient driving distance of the Indiana Dunes, Lake Michigan, and Chicago, making for easy and affordable business and vacation travel. The development also happens to be located within five minutes of two McColly Real Estate offices.
Kristin Hadley, Area Sales Manager in Northwest Indiana for D.R. Horton is quite optimistic about the future of Bauer Farm.
"Bauer Farms is one of our newest communities in Northwest Indiana," Hadley said. "Potential homebuyers might not always have the time to go to a sales center, but here they can come in and leisurely tour the houses without feeling any pressure to commit. We're very excited to partner with McColly on this development. We want to share the news about Bauer Farms with the Portage community and let our presence in Northwest Indiana be known."
Aspiring homebuyers will be able to choose from three different home styles at Bauer Farm. The 1,500 square foot ranch-style Harmony home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, while the 2,050 square foot, two-story Bellamy home offers four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The next phase of the Bauer Farm project will see the addition of the Henley, a 2,500 square foot house that also features two floors, four bedrooms, and three bathrooms, making it an ideal choice for growing families. Basements are an option for all three home styles.
For Heather McColly, Director of Career Development and New Homes Division for McColly Real Estate, a close working relationship with homebuilding companies like D.R. Horton is of the utmost importance.
“We value our partnership with the builders in our area,” McColly said. “Statistics show that over one in four homes sold are newly constructed. We want to make sure that all brokers know where these developments are located, what their features are, and how the process works. Today’s event also offers our brokers a chance to reconnect with builders and sales reps they may have worked with previously. We're all in the industry of helping people find a place to call home, so maintaining those relationships is very important.”
