Lubeznik’s 41st Arts Festival expected to touch many lives

Lubeznik’s 41st Arts Festival expected to touch many lives

Attention all art lovers! The 41st annual Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) Arts Festival is quickly approaching. With an exciting new lineup of artists, vendors, exhibitions, demonstrations, and activities, this year’s festival will surely be more engaging than ever.

LCA created the Arts Festival to grow the community’s love of art in a fun and unique way and help people realize how impactful art can be. Now over 40 years later, the Arts Festival has become one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer for the most die-hard art enthusiasts and the more casual fans alike.

This year’s Arts Festival definitely won’t disappoint. There will be plenty of new things for people to enjoy including a whole new list of artists to connect with and the fantastic new exhibit "Vivian Maier: In Color" that will be on display inside the Hyndman Gallery. The exhibition will feature 50 color prints spanning the late 1950s through the 1970s. The gorgeous prints, taken by amateur photographer and French immigrant Vivian Maier, capture the streets of Chicago in a breathtaking way that encourages viewers to look at the world differently.

“Every year we have different talented artists from all over the county show their work at Lubeznik Arts Festival. There is always something new to see,” said Samantha Bean, LCA’s marketing manager.

The Arts Festival will also bring back many things that keep people coming back year after year such as a fantastic beer and wine tent, a kids' area where children can create their art and get their faces painted, and several delicious food vendors. LCA will also hold another live mural competition; attendees will get to watch several muralists create beautiful murals right before their eyes and vote on which one is their favorite.

Most importantly, though, the Arts Festival will allow people to learn more about LCA’s mission and important programs that help make art and creativity more available in our community.

“I love that the arts festival brings so many different people to LCA and shows them all the wonderful things LCA offers the community: world-class art exhibits, art classes, and camps, First Friday events, the annual arts festival and so much more,” said Bean.

With so many great things in store, this year’s Lubeznik Arts Festival is the perfect opportunity for the community to gain a deeper appreciation of art and discover all the amazing things that LCA provides. This year’s art festival will be held on Saturday, August 19, and Sunday, August 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The LCA team encourages everyone to come out and see for themselves why the Arts Festival has become such an integral part of the community over the years.

For LCA members and children 16 years old and younger, entry into the festival will be free, otherwise, admission on Saturday will be $5. Admission on Sunday will be completely free thanks to McDonald’s of La Porte County. All the proceeds will go directly back into LCA’s education programs so that LCA can continue to fulfill its mission of fostering a love of art throughout the Region.

So, paint the dates down on your canvas, grab your friends and family, and get ready for a weekend packed with creativity and fun. This year’s Arts Festival is sure to be unforgettable. To learn more about the Lubeznik Center for the Arts and its upcoming events, visit https://www.lubeznikcenter.org/.
