Between sets, peruse the Holiday Artisan Market, enjoy light bites and a cash bar. Admission is free.

Opening in the NIPSCO Education Studios catch Featured Creatures through January 5. This exhibit showcases artworks completed by student artists of LCA's Health Promotion through the Arts Program, which provides weekly classes for adults living with developmental disabilities. Students from The Social and Learning Institute and Paladin, Inc. explore skills that foster self-expression and communication. Sponsored by Duneland Health Council. Sales benefit the artists and the program.

Opening in the Area Artists' Association Gallery (AAA) is artist Rob Rothermel's Through the Ethereal. Rothermel's work embodies memories and the creative evolution of one's self. His encaustic mixed media pieces blend the surreal with the familiar and will be displayed through December 29.

Continuing to display at LCA is Fragile Codes, a new media and video exhibit, and In the Abstract, an exhibit presenting artwork by four Chicago area artists using hot wax and pigment in their own distinctive artistic language.

Special thanks to our December First Friday media sponsors AM 1420 WIMS "The Talk of the South Shore" and AM 1060 WHFB "Southwest Michigan's Great Radio".

LCA welcomes school field trips for any grade level, and we can accommodate groups up to seventy-five students at one time. We recommend at least one and a half hours for the entire trip as students are led through our galleries with trained educational docents and also complete a hands-on art project while on site to deepen understanding of the concepts discussed in the exhibits. To schedule a learning tour, contact Hannah Hammond-Hagman, Education Director, at 219.874.4900 or hhammond@lubeznikcenter.org.
