Links of the Week: World Cup Photos, The Facebook Movie, and Beavis and Butthead

So, this week I learned something about what I do: I am not a long form writer.

After watching the LeBron James "Decision" last week, I began thinking about how what he did to his fans and had the idea of comparing "The Decision" to Bash at the Beach 1996 -- the WCW Pay Per View event where Hulk Hogan turned on WCW in favor of joining the nWo. I wasn't the only one who had these thoughts, but I feel that out of anyone I know or read, I had the best grasp on the comparison.

I started with just the LeBron-Hulk Hogan comparison, moved over to the Dwayne Wade/Chris Bosh - Scott Hall/Kevin Nash comparison, then the legacy thing. I called my sister (another former WWE/WCW fan) and my buddy Clem (probably the 2nd most knowledgeable Sports Entertainment fan) and got their input. Several hours and well over 3,000 words later, I had a completely incoherent piece of writing that went in about 100 different directions.

I'll admit it- I went to school for advertising: I've been taught that shorter is better. Always. I now have more respect for the people that write books or long-form columns like Bill Simmons, Malcolm Gladwell, or any other number of good writers.

Eventually I came up with a better angle for the LeBron saga, one that is shorter, more concise, and involves far fewer references to Lex Lugar and "Big Poppa Puff" Scott Steiner. But, until that's up, I'll give you the Links of the Week:

For those who are in to that sort of thing, "Business Books You Need to Read Now", from Newsweek.

Boston.com gives some of the coolest sports photos you'll ever see from the World Cup. My personal favorite: #23, where the goalie is seemingly 7 feet in the air trying to block a ball. Cool shots.

Double-decker flat screens: the key to any happy marriage...

... or for when that doesn't work out well (volume arguments, no doubt) you can download a plug-in to delete your ex from the internet. Photos, names--everything. If only they had that when I was in 8th grade.

If Christina Hendricks (from Mad Men) is somewhere on the web, I'm there too. Here is an interview she did with TV critic Alan Sepinwall about her recent Emmy nomination and the upcoming season of Mad Men. On a related note: MAD MEN STARTS SOON

Ok, so when I heard there was a new Facebook movie coming out in the near future, my mind immediately pointed to "LAME". Well, the first real trailer for the movie came out this week, and it looks... really, really good. I'm excited. Here it is.

Mike Judge is rumored to be working on new Beavis and Butt-head episodes? MIKE JUDGE IS RUMORED TO BE WORKING ON NEW BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD EPISIODES!
