Liberty Students Learn About Pioneer Life

Westchester-History-PresentationStaff and volunteers from the Westchester Township History Museum recently came to talk to Liberty Elementary third graders about some of the earliest families to settle in our area. They discussed pioneer life in the 19th century and what pioneers would have needed to pack in their wagons as they traveled to their new homes.

This program meets social studies standards about how communities are established and its local founders and settlers.

Pictured talking with students is Serena Sutliff, curator at the museum.
