Lake County first responders honor Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus staff

The healthcare workers at Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus started battling COVID-19 just over a month ago, and they have kept up the fight ever since. First responders from around Lake County honored those healthcare heroes on Wednesday evening with their own personal parade.

The stream of law enforcement officers, first responders, and firefighters gathered on Grant Street in front of Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus main entrance before circling the building, lights and sirens ringing as nurses, doctors, and other staff members looked on in awe, waving and smiling.

“Methodist Hospitals greatly appreciates Northwest Indiana’s first responders’ recognition of our Northlake Campus frontline employees,” said Matt Doyle, acting CEO for Methodist Hospitals. “This gesture boosts our staff’s morale and reminds us how strong and supportive our community is.”

The parade is the second honoring Methodist staff, following the Southlake Campus’ last week, and featured first responders from: the Gary Police and Fire departments, Lake Ridge Fire Department, Crown Point Fire & Rescue, Highland Fire Department, the Merrillville Police and Fire departments, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
