Lake Central Girls Swim Past Portage

lake-central-indians-logoThe Lake Central Barracudas earned the win in the Duneland Athletic Conference dual meet Tuesday night at home.

A team of Hailey Garlich, Brianna Shoemaker, Mariana Vazquez and Jessica Lopez won the 200 yard medlay relay, earning eight points for the Indians with a time of 1:57.10.

The Indians’ Victoria Springman and Traci Muszalski each won a pair of individual events to pace Lake Central. Springman finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a finals time of 2:02.35 and in the 500 yard freestyle (5:29.65). Muszalski was the top swimmer in the 200 yard IM (2:15.87) and the 100 yard free (56.47).

Other individual winners for Lake Central were Lopez in the 50 yard free (26.33), Kallie Higgins in the 1 mtr. diving event (220.15), Shoemaker in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.36) and Garlich in the 100 yard butterfly (1:03.47).

Muszalski, Lopez, Vazquez and Springman teamed for a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a finals time of 1:45.03. The 400 yard freestyle relay went to a team of Rebecca Albright, Garlich, Springman and Muszalski.

Lake Central’s junior varsity swimmers also picked up a victory over Portage, winning 126-22.
