Lake Area United Way and FamilyWize Announce Savings of Over $3 Million in Everyday Prescription Costs for Local Residents

LAUW-FamilyWize-Prescription-Drug-CardSince 2010, Lake County residents have saved more than $3 million on everyday prescription costs, thanks to the partnership between Lake Area United Way and the FamilyWize prescription savings card program. The card is free and is distributed throughout the community by Lake Area United Way. “With so many local families facing difficult financial choices to make every day, we are happy to partner with FamilyWize. The FamilyWize program provides an average of 40% savings for people without insurance, or for those who take a medication not covered by their plan,” said Shelice Tolbert, LAUW 2015 Campaign Chair and Partner at Tolbert & Tolbert LLC. “No one should be forced to choose between paying for food, rent or prescriptions. This program offers relief to many,” she said. Susan Gilmore, Executive Director of Community Engagement for FamilyWize added, “The card is easy to use, very accessible and is accepted at more than 60,000 pharmacies across the country, including CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Kmart and Walmart. The card provides immediate savings on prescription medicines with no paperwork or forms to fill out.”

About the card:
