Lady Indians Are 2-0 After Win Over Lake Central

PHSCrestThe Portage High School varsity girls basketball team improved to 2-0 Tuesday night with a 46-31 win over East Chicago. The Lady Indians were led by Kaitlyn Steers, who scored 17 points and Alexis Johnson, who added 12 on top of a very good defensive effort.

A balanced scoring effort also helped the Portage junior varsity team, who also improved to 2-0 Tuesday with a 38-21 win over Lake Central.

Also on Tuesday, the Portage freshman team lost a tough one to Lake Central, falling 33-28. Megan Clark had 12 points for the Lade Indians while Brianna Penrose chipped in six points and nine rebounds. The freshman 'B' team also lost, 12-11 with leading scorer Victoria Farley contributing five points.

The freshman girls returned to action Wednesday night, falling to Highland 36-18. Clark and Liberty Radek each led the way with five points.
