Kids Show Off Art Skills for a Good Cause

Kids from the local Boys and Girls Clubs of Valparaiso, South Haven, Chesterton and Portage got a chance to show off their creativity and art skills in the July Poster Contest.

What the kids had to do for the poster contest was create drawings that illustrated the theme, “A place where I can be a kid”. This is very similar to the slogan of the Hoosier Burn Camp: A place to be “just one of the kids”. The drawings had to demonstrate a clear and positive message that the Hoosier Burn Camp is a great place where a kid can be a kid. The poster contest was done four separate times –one in each club in Porter County. This way, more kids had a chance to win.

The judging took place for the Valpo Club at the Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce on Friday August 1, 2013. Judges were: Mark Baird, Vice President at Centier Bank; James Tudor, owner of Tudor Cleaning and Restoration; and BruceAnn Singleton, Managing Broker of the McColly Real Estate.

“We’re donating some of the proceeds from the Hoosier Burn Camp golf outing that is taking place on August 12 to the local Boys and Girls Club,” Tudor said. “The reason that we’re doing that is to get exposure for the Hoosier Burn Camp so that people from our local area will know what it is.”
