Kibble Kitchen Pet Pantry Seeks Volunteers, Meeting Rescheduled

Kibble-Kitchen-Pet-PantryIf you are interested in volunteering your time to an organization working with pets and people, then the Northwest Indiana Pet Project & Kibble Kitchen may be for you. The organization is hosting an informational volunteer meeting from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Portage Public Library, 2665 Irving St.

The meeting was originally scheduled to take place last week, but inclement weather forced the Kibble Kitchen staff to reschedule.

Those who attend the meeting will learn about the mission of the Pantry, have the opportunity to speak with current volunteers and also fill out a volunteer application. All are welcome and those that bring a guest will be entered into a drawing for a door prize.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or be accompanied by an adult. RSVP prior to Feb. 8 by joining the event on the group’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/KibbleKitchen as seating is limited to 40.

The Kibble Kitchen Pet Pantry was originally established to assist families within Porter County facing financial hardship, all while promoting responsible pet ownership. Since the inception of the pantry in 2011, the need for pet food assistance has continued to grow and families have also been assisted with spay and neuter services, vaccinations and emergency vet care including euthanasia.

The pantry has occasionally extended their services beyond Porter County and the organization is currently preparing to permanently serve Lake County as well. To learn more about the Kibble Kitchen Pet Pantry visit www.thekibblekitchen.com.
