The Hobart Jaycees Foundation will be hosting a memorial twilight parade to commemorate the attacks on our country on September 11, 2001. The parade will be a solemn event filled with Police, Fire and Military men and women and their families. It will be held at dusk on September 11, 2011, and lit by 1st responder lights and candlelight.
As part of this event, the downtown Hobart parade route will be lined with hand prints that represent each life lost on September 11th, as well those who lost their life in “Operation Enduring Freedom”. The parade will conclude with inspirational speakers and a musical tribute to our country. In addition, the parade will be preceded by a cookout for parade participants and sponsors (estimated attendance 300).
We are looking for donations to assist in hosting this event. Below is a list of items requested:
- Finger Paints (for hand prints)
- White Flat Sheets (for hand prints)
- Handheld vigil candles with drip protectors
- Monetary
- Paper Plates and Napkins
- Utensils and Serving Utensils
- Aluminum Foil and Foil Pans
- Pop and Water
- Ice · Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Buns
- Condiments
- Chips
- Sides such as potato salad
- Desserts
All sponsors will be recognized during the program at the end of the parade. All donations are tax deductible and can be forwarded to the Hobart Jaycees Foundation at PO BOX 335 Hobart, IN 46342 or monetary donations are being accepted at Main Source Bank in Hobart, IN 46342.
