IU Northwest to Host Service and Resource Conference for those with Disabilities, Their Employers on October 24

rot1The Indiana University Northwest Office of Diversity, Equity and Multicultural Affairs, together with Everybody Counts and MAAP Services for Autism and Asperger Syndrome, will host a Disabilities Employment Awareness Symposium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 24 in the John W. Anderson Library Conference Center Lobby and in LCC Room 105ABC.

The symposium will showcase services and resources that can help individuals with disabilities function well in the workplace, as well as guide business owners in accommodating those with disabilities. Among the day’s activities, attendees will hear a presentation about “Overcoming Non-Disability Barriers and Selling Yourself to an Employer without Disclosing.”

The day’s schedule is as follows:
10 to 11:30 a.m. - Exhibits in the Library Conference Center Lobby
11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. - Break for lunch
12:30 to 1:30 p.m. - Panel Discussion
1:45 to 2:30 p.m. - Workshop by Bryann Gibson of WorkOne
2:30 to 3 p.m. - Presentation by Ida Gillis, director of Affirmative Action, IU Northwest
