The Portage High School softball team remained sixth overall in the most recent Region Sports Network top ten ranking of Northwest Indiana for the week of April 16, 2012.

6. Portage Indians (7-3; Last Week: #6)
Portage got bombed by LaPorte last week before walking over Merrillville and topping Hobart. LaPorte got 13 hits off Portage right-hander Heather Zengler (2-2) and that was a big surprise. Zengler allowed only three hits against Scecina on April 7 and she allowed just three hits to Hebron on March 31. Portage still has Crown Point and Lake Central to play twice, so results thus far are inconclusive.
