Indians’ Girls Tennis, Baseball, Softball, and Track & Field Teams All in Weekend Action

In Tennis, the ladies beat Crown Point on Friday varsity 3-2 JV 3-2. Abby Hargarten and Michelle Comerford were MVP’s, their match gave us the win. On Saturday, the Varsity team lost to Chesterton 2-3 and the JV team won 3-2. Abby Clark at #3 singles and Lauren Zac and Alyssa Tampier at #2 doubles outstanding match!

The boys’ golf team split their match on Friday by beating Michigan City 157-159, but lost to Valpo 157-148. Jack Lewis shot a 36 and Tim Talley shot a 37. On Saturday, the team was at the Kankakee Valley invite and placed 4th out of 16 shooting a 381 in extremely windy conditions. Tim Talley and Paul Shane shot 90 and 94, respectively.

The varsity baseball team picked up two wins over the weekend, beating South Central 11-1 & Valparaiso 9-3. Mike Brunner picked up the win against South Central, while Gabe Acevedo had a double and a homerun to pace the offense.

The Indians pounded out 13 hits to beat Valpo on Saturday. Allen Barrett pitched 7 strong innings and hit a homerun to pick up the win. Nate Ramian, Tony Cheky, & Andrew Brown added 2 hits a piece to lead the offense.

On Friday the varsity softball team played a DH beating Valpo at home 14-0. The team then traveled to Merrillville to play under the lights and had another big win of 12-1.

The JV team beat Valpo 14 - 4 Sadie Draves went 4-5 with an RBI Stephanie Upton went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI’s Lexy Brock went 3-3 with 3 RBI’s

The Lady Indian Girls Track & Field team had a good performance this past Saturday at the Lime City Relays at Huntington High School. The Indians finished with 103.5 points which put us 3rd, a mere 3.5 points out of 2nd and 10.5 points out of first. The Indians were defeated by #7 Fort Wayne Snider and #1 Fort Wayne Northrop. The Indians for the second week in a row defeated the #14 ranked squad from Fort Wayne Carroll. The Indians were once again led by Tori Bliss who defended her shot put title from last year. She also broke and set a new meet shot put record with her throw of 48 feet 5 inches. Tori also won the discus with her throw of 138 feet. Paige Pizer ran a personal best 11:52 in the 2 mile and finished in 2nd. Shakiea Boyd also had a good day finishing in 3rd place in the 100 meter hurdles and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles. The 4 x 100 relay team of Ashley Smith, Jade McKnight, Arissa Salas and Kristy Evans also helped the Indian effort with their 3rd place finish. The Lady Indians will close with their final regular season home meet of the year Tuesday v. the Crown Point Bulldogs in a very important meet. This is also the last home meet for Tori Bliss, Kristy Evans, Ashley Smith, Jawanza Woods, Danielle Randle El, and Christina Del Turco. Come on out and cheer on this very good group of seniors.
