Horizon Bank honors veterans and continues commitment to local communities by introducing ‘Veterans Only’ parking

While Veterans Day happens in early November, the sacrifices the men and women of the Armed Forces have given can be felt year-round. Similarly, Horizon Bank is committed to honoring the risks taken on behalf of our country at all times. One way the bank has chosen to show its appreciation is with the introduction of 60 “Veterans Parking Only” signs at branch locations throughout Indiana and Michigan.

The newly designated parking spaces help Horizon Bank express its gratitude on every trip local veterans take to their respective branches. The company is proud to offer these privileges.

“It is an honor to work with our local veterans,” Horizon Bank and Horizon Bancorp CEO Thomas Prame said in a press release. “These parking signs are a modest gesture to show our appreciation for their service and sacrifices.”

The initiative to introduce special parking for veterans was carried out over the past month. The parking spaces, conveniently located near entrances at branch locations, are just one part of Horizon Bank’s larger mission of increasing accessibility to branch locations and creating a welcoming environment for customers.

In addition to the parking spaces, Horizon Bank’s retail advisors all wore Veterans Day pins throughout the week to honor all veterans. While all of Horizon Bank’s employees are grateful for the service of its veteran customers, some saw the gesture hit a little closer to home, such as Bargersville Branch Manager Betty Uban, who has had many family members serve in the Armed Forces.

“My dad was a 20-year veteran of the Army. My husband served in the Army. My brother and two brothers-in-law served as well. Both of my sons served in the military,” said Uban. “I can’t express just how proud of our company I am at this moment!”

Horizon Bank’s commitment to supporting its local communities includes the veterans who have given much to keep those communities free. While the special veterans parking may not affect everyone, those it does are sure to feel more included.

“Thank you Horizon Bank for acknowledging their sacrifice for our freedom,” Uban said.
