Help End Homelessness, Help Spring Valley

housing-opportunitiesWe live in a time when charities and government programs are not enough to meet the need. No one can sit on the sidelines and be a spectator or even a coach for that matter, and simply offer some direction and motivation to help others. To truly meet the need and solve the problems that contribute to homelessness, all of us must roll-up our sleeves and make a commitment to be involved. Whether it is supporting the work to serve the homeless and end homelessness through our financial and material contributions, or through our gifts of our time and energy – or both, we must get involved!

As you know by now, Housing Opportunities, Inc. will soon be the owners of Spring Valley in Valparaiso. We are now providing housing at Spring Valley for three families, with others soon to follow. Along with a comfortable and safe place to live, residents of Spring Valley will be given case management that will provide pathways to end their homelessness once and for all.

It costs $1,000 a month to house a family at Spring Valley. Volunteers will be needed to provide necessary services to Spring Valley residents, and visit with families and individuals on a regular basis. Others will be needed to assist with refurbishing and maintaining the apartments.

We are just a few days away from the end of 2010. Your tax-deductible gift to Housing Opportunities will be put to work in 2011 to help the residents of Spring Valley, as well as the other 60 families being housed by HO in Porter and LaPorte Counties.
