Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso celebrates 27th anniversary with weekend of festivities

Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso has taken more than a few rides around the block, and to celebrate its 27 years of service to the Valparaiso area, the team organized a jam-packed weekend full of live music, food, drink, dogs, and HOGs.

Friday’s festivities included a live performance from local rock band Head Honchos and a food and beer garden provided by Leroy’s Hot Stuff. Guests enjoyed listening to the band in warm weather as the sun began to set over the crowd.

Heidi Morrow made the trip from Hebron to visit the event.

“I love Valparaiso Harley Davidson! I’m really enjoying the vibe here tonight. It’s just right: the people, the bikes, the music, everything. I really enjoy coming here and spending time with other local riders,” said Morrow.

Several attendees have been a part of the HD Valpo family for years, and they feel the camaraderie surrounding the dealership and the associated Duneland Harley Owners Group (HOG) chapter is unmatched.

"I've been coming here for probably the last fifteen years," said Connie Schaffer from Wanatah. "They (Valparaiso Harley Davidson) serve the community well. They always have good music here for these events and the food here from Leroy's is wonderful. Of course, the camaraderie here is awesome, we all show up and we're all so grateful to the staff here at Valparaiso Harley Davidson for hosting such a terrific event."

New and familiar faces alike were thrilled to be amongst friends once again to celebrate the dealership-turned-family that they have all come to know and love over the years. Even if they had not been involved with the community previously, the weekend celebrations provided an ideal place to mingle and meet with other riders who shared the same passion.

Since its opening day 27 years ago, HD Valpo has fostered a community of bike enthusiasts that enjoy helping the community almost as much as they enjoy riding. The Duneland HOG chapter organizes many opportunities for members to donate to various charities throughout the year.

John Radinsky, Assistant Director for the Duneland HOG organization, is very proud of the relationship between the Duneland HOGs and Valparaiso Harley Davidson.

“We’re here every Saturday,” said Radinsky. “We all go out to breakfast, then we meet back here. It’s a great way to meet new Harley riders and tell them about our group. It’s a great way to build and strengthen our community.”

The weekend’s celebration is a testament to HD Valpo’s commitment to the Valparaiso community, but it is also a testament to the constant support from the community as HD Valpo continues to evolve over the years.

Jeff Haggerty, General Manager of Valparaiso Harley Davidson is proud of his time with the company.

“This is our 27th birthday celebration. A lot of companies find it hard to stay in business for that long, but we’ve been fortunate enough to find ways to sustain and continue to grow and serve the community. I’ve been here since the beginning and it’s been very interesting to watch the company grow,” said Haggerty. “Our customers become like family to us. I’m looking forward to the next 27 years.”

Guests can expect Saturday and Sunday to be just as exciting as Friday’s events, with even more live music, dogs with HOGS, and a sidewalk sale with up to 60% off of officially licensed Harley Davidson products.
