The City of Portage Utilities Department is proud to announce the groundbreaking ceremony of a transformative wastewater infrastructure project. This milestone event signifies the commencement of construction on a groundbreaking initiative for the Portage Wastewater Solar, Screen, and Clarifier Improvements Project designed to improve wastewater management and enhance the quality of life for city residents.
The groundbreaking will be presented by Mayor Austin Bonta and is scheduled to take place on March 26, 2024, at 12:00 PM (central) at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (5500 Old Porter Road, Portage, IN 46368). The ceremony will bring together key stakeholders, community leaders, and project partners to celebrate the commencement of this vital endeavor.
The wastewater infrastructure project represents a collaborative effort between the City of Portage, IN and local authorities to address the pressing issue of aging infrastructure and environmental concerns. With the financial support of the Indiana Finance Authority’s State Revolving Fund, we are able to implement state-of-the-art technology and innovative solutions.
"We are thrilled to mark this significant milestone in our commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare," said Tracie Marshall, Superintendent of Portage Utilities. "This groundbreaking ceremony represents the culmination of extensive planning, collaboration, and dedication from all parties involved."
