Portage Township Trustee, Brendan Clancy is proud to announce that his office has received a grant from the Northwest Indiana Community Action group (N.W.I.C.A.) for a new program called, “Fuel the Kids Summer Project” in Portage Township.
The Focal Point grant is a matching grant that will help meet the nutritional needs of our Portage Township School’s kids during the summer when school is not in session. About 53% of all kids in Portage Township schools are on free or reduced lunches with 2 schools dangerously close to the 70% mark.
In an effort to raise money for the match; Portage Township will be having a “Give Back Night” at Buffalo Wild Wings in Portage, Monday, April 29th anytime from 5 to 8pm. A percentage of the food sales will be donated back to the “Fuel the Kids Summer Project”.
