Four Porter Regional Hospital Patients Win “Patient of the Year” Award

Porter-New-Hospital-Coming-SoonPorter Regional Hospital is proud to honor four of its patients who recently won the Patient of the Year Award from the Indiana Society of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (ISCVPR), a statewide organization for cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation professionals.

To honor these patients, Porter is hosting a celebration to announce the winners from Noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 at its Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center located in the north wing of Valparaiso Medical Center, which is on the corner of Glendale and Calumet Ave. in Valparaiso. During the event, Porter Health Care System CEO Steve Lunn will present the patients of the year with a certificate and gift from ISCVPR.

“Each year ISCVPR requests nominations for cardiac and pulmonary patients of the year. They do this to recognize patients who have made significant lifestyle changes with the help of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and who serve as role models to others suffering from cardiac and pulmonary disease,” said Patty Neely, supervisor of Porter’s Cardiac Rehab Program. “This year, our staff submitted four nominations to ISCVPR for consideration – two female and two male – and I’m very excited to say that this year, all four of the winners are from Porter Regional Hospital.”

According to Neely, all four recipients will be on hand to share their remarkable stories and journeys through the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation process – two who are actually lung transplant recipients.
