Fegely Science Olympiad Students Work Hard

Fegely-Science-Olympiad-2013-14The Fegely Middle School Science Olympiad Team competed in The Regional Science Olympiad Competition at Indiana University Northwest on February 15th. This is an annual competition that area middle schools and high schools attend and compete against each other in events pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, geology, anatomy, genetics, technology, and engineering.

Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events in each division (Division B is middle school; Division C is high school). Teamwork is a required skill in most scientific careers today, and Science Olympiad encourages group learning by designing events that forge alliances.

Fegely's 2013-2014 team consisted of the following hard working members, Coached by Fegely Teachers Kristin Szymczak and Gary Lembcke: Christian Busch, Kylie Norton, Tallon Uporsky, Andrew English, Isabelle Hammerstein, Adam Wood, Aidan Ridgeway, Kyler Berrier, Kristin Murphy, Logan Munoz, Ethyl Rheuman, John Runyan, Emily Stanish, and Jamie Bailey.

This group placed in the upper half of the competition on many of the day's events. Their hard work, effort, and determination was still greatly appreciated by their coaches and school.
