Fegely Title 1 and PHS basketball worked together for a great community event. Fegely Middle School is committed to not only providing quality education, but also to maintain a strong community. Families enjoyed concession snacks and shared the court with each other to have an entertaining evening.
Fegely teacher and coach, Keary Weaver, said, “I thought having the PHS basketball players at the Fegely Title 1 event was beneficial for both groups. The players got to learn to be great role models for the younger Portage kids, and our middle school students got to interact in a positive way with successful Portage kids who were in their shoes not too long ago."
Portage students Cale Nelson, Steven Jansen, Steven Lush, Zach Rudd, Alex Constanders, Tyler Hufford, Saku Brough, William Daniels, and Eliezer Concepcion shared their interest in basketball. William said, “The evening was a fun experience for all of us! The high school players got to see how well the 6th graders played, and the 6th graders got to learn from the high school students.”
Fegely student, Charlene Gilbert, and her family came to the Title 1 event to enjoy the company of their community members. Charlene says, “I like the opportunity to share my school with my family.”
Isabelle Castenello, Mariah Nava, Elizabeth Ruder, Isabel Vega, Kamiah Ihweih, and Alyssa Quilter enjoyed some concession snacks while appreciating each other’s company.
