Representatives from several groups involved in the 2012 Empty Bowls Project attended the Portage Food Pantry's Board Meeting and presented checks totaling $3000. This was the highest amount ever raised by the Empty Bowls Project, which started in Portage in 2007.
Karen Fulkerson, Outreach Coordinator from Holy Cross Lutheran Church, coordinated the donation of soup and chili. She reported, "We had 35 crock pots this year through Holy Cross and St. Peter Lutheran Church."
Board president Sarah Tracy accepted the checks on behalf of the Pantry. "We want to thank you for all your efforts--the students who worked so hard to create all the art, the people who prepared the soups and chili to sell, and everyone else who participated. We appreciate your every effort," Tracy said.
