The Duneland Health & Wellness Institute of Chesterton will be hosting the 5th annual Firecracker 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 25th, 2011. This competitive Gold Cup Series Race will start at 7:30 am, with race day registration from 6:00 to 7:00 am.
The 3.1 mile course is a flat route through the neighborhood adjacent to Duneland Health and Wellness Institute (DHWI). Parking is available at DHWI. The race starts on Michael Drive heading north on Sand Creek Drive. A water station will be located at the 1 and 2 mile mark of the race. Refreshments and water will be available at the end of the race. Split times will be called out at each mile.
The 2011 Firecracker 5K will again utilize the RFID Ultra race timing system. No ankle straps, shoe tags or any other secondary piece of equipment for the runner to lose, forget or attach incorrectly. This system provides accurate time readings every time.
Prizes will be awarded to the overall and master winners and top 3 male and female finishers in each age category. Goody bags and t-shirts are guaranteed for pre-registered participants only.
