The notorious John Dillinger will be breaking into the Crown Point Courthouse on Wednesday, Nov. 12, beginning at 9:00 a.m., as demolition for the new John Dillinger Museum begins.
“The South Shore CVA is very excited about the museum moving to Crown Point,” said Speros A. Batistatos, president and CEO of the tourism organization. “Crown Point has so much history with Dillinger, and now visitors will be able to explore the museum in the community that once jailed the gangster.”
The museum is anticipated to open on March 3, 2015, the 81st anniversary of the day Dillinger escaped from the Crown Point jail, and will take visitors on an interactive, historical adventure through the life and times of John Dillinger and other gangsters of the 1930s depression era. Through the stories of the infamous gangsters, visitors also learn of the rise of the FBI and advancements made in crime fighting technology.
