2020 proved to be a difficult year, one that changed how many businesses operate as the COVID-19 pandemic was at its worse. But for Currie Motors Ford of Valpo, it proved to be a year of resilience and success.
“We stuck to the basics,” said Frank Herrera, General Manager for Currie Motors Ford of Valpo. “We continued to do what has made us successful in the past.”
By focusing on what has worked and what has made the longtime Valparaiso dealership successful, Currie Motors Ford of Valpo was able to provide customers the same quality and care they have come to expect from the dealership. In a year of constant change—some good, some bad—providing a sense of normalcy to customers and employees paid off in the long run.
“We went out and purchased $11.2 million worth in new vehicle inventory from other dealerships, in addition to what we order directly from the manufacturer in order to better serve our customers,” Herrera said. “We have continued to provide employment opportunities to those seeking it and provided a sanitary work environment for all of our staff members.”
“Although things have definitely changed how we do business, like social distancing, enhanced sanitary and safety procedures, safety shields, and more, we have continued to support each other through this odd, difficult year,” he continued.
Currie Motors Ford of Valpo was recognized by Ford in the 2020 President’s Award Program, an award only given to the top-performing Ford dealerships in the country.
“Only Ford dealerships that exhibit quality business practices and Ford's core principles receive this award,” Herrera said. “Dealerships nationwide competed for the honor, but only 10% of all dealerships achieved the 2020 President's Award.”
“The honor of receiving this award signifies our dealerships team’s exceptional performance and outstanding accomplishments,” he continued. “We will be receiving our reward on Friday June 4, 2021.”
The dealership was also named the #1 Ford dealership in NWI for 2020, a recognition that further highlights the stake the dealership has in the community.
“It means that we are doing our job at the highest level,” Herrera said. “We are stocking the inventory, competitively pricing our new and preowned units, and most importantly, we are taking care of our customers.”
Though 2020 was a successful year for Currie Motors Ford of Valpo, it still came with its share of difficulties. But the dealership shifted its attention to supporting and helping the community in tangible ways, providing vital resources to those who needed.
“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to host our annual Memorial Day Event or any of our other annual events last year, but we supported our community in every way that we could, including donating personal protective equipment to local high schools, police departments, and fire departments,” said Shannon Evans, Administrative Assistant and Events Coordinator. “It was difficult to celebrate anything in 2020 given the circumstances that year brought. We are hopeful that 2021 will continue to bring a light to the darkness that we all endured.”
