Czilli: Let’s Get to Work

Collin-Czilli-Elected-as-Portage-5th-City-Council-RepresentativeAlmost every year, Americans across this great nation head to their polling location to cast their votes for the various offices at each level. Yesterday, voters in Portage made their choice for municipal offices. I am honored that the residents of the 5th City Council District chose me to be their representative.

The decision to run for office is not an easy one to make, especially for someone as young as I am. The decision to run was one that I thought long and hard about making. In the end, I am happy with my choice. Not because I now have the honor of serving on the City Council and representing my neighbors, but rather the conversations that I had and people I met at every door in the 5th District. I remember each and every idea that someone had. I remember each and every concern that was expressed. And I remember each and every promise I made.

In the coming weeks, I intend to meet with members of the City Council and the Mayor to begin the process of learning the inner workings of our City Government so that starting on day one; I will be able to hit the ground running.

For me, this is not just a job and it is not a stepping-stone. The honor of serving my community is one I will treasure tremendously. For me, politics and government are sources of good. They are the areas in which yes, people disagree, but when we put aside our differences, great things can be accomplished. I believe the each and every person who was elected to serve our great City last night honestly believes Portage is the greatest City in the world and is committed to making our community better for all of us.

Throughout my entire campaign, I have had one message, Moving Portage Forward. To me, that means making our community better for the next generation of great Portage residents. I believe that our community’s best days are yet to come.

Now, let’s get to work.
